Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask Review

Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask Review

When I first saw this product in an promotional email, I thought to myself, what a brilliant concept! How is it even possible that a sleeping mask dedicated for the lip area never existed?! Of course I had to ask the friend who was off to Seoul to bring me back this pot of wonder, because back then I haven’t yet had The Sesame Shop. I have been using this Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask for a little over 3 months now and would like to share with you my thoughts on it.

Background

My lip is dry. No matter how oily my nose is, my lip has always been quite dry. I keep a lip balm in every room I exist and apply them hourly to battle this dryness. Before using the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask, I have the habit of applying a layer of Etude House’s Lip Perfume before bedtime each night. I particularly love its grapefruit scent and the ointment texture. When I finished the pot, I was looking to purchase another one, but then I saw the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask. The thought of being able to keep my lip moisturised all night excites me! Laneige was the producer of the well-known Water Sleeping Pack, therefore it totally made sense for them to extend the line to lip care. While I didn’t quite like the Water Sleeping Mask, I was still intrigued to try the Lip Sleeping Mask, and it definitely did not disappoint.

Packaging

The Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask comes in a glass jar with a matte finish and a gradient berry red colour. It is housed in a white and blue cube box, appeared refreshing. The box also contained a little pamphlet for product details and a mini spatula. While I adore the mini spatula, I didn’t find myself using it. I normally just apply with my fingers.

Colour

The mask is of a creamy baby pink colour in the jar and when applied to the lips, it is almost clear.

Scent

I love the smell of this product. It was described as a mixture of berries by Laneige, but I smell strawberry ice-cream! Sweet and slightly tangy. I believe the scent contributes largely to my willingness of consistently using it every night.

Texture

Before receiving the product, I imagined the texture to be similar to Laneige’s Water Sleeping Pack, slimy and slightly tacky. I’m glad that it is not. It is more of the texture of an ointment, similar to Vaseline and the popular Lucas Papaw Ointment.

Volume

I would like to make a special note about this product’s volume, because after three months of daily usage, I made a dent about the size of a 20-cent coin in the jar. I believe this 20g jar could easily last me a year, which makes it well worth the $25 price tag.

Results

After all, how did the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask actually perform? Well, the fact that I used it continuously for three months says a lot about it. It definitely does what I wanted to achieve, that is, lasting hydrated lips. Although it does get absorbed or evaporated after some time, it leaves my lip in a soft, hydrated state. I notice my lip doesn’t crave for lip balm as often after I used it. But best of all, I love using it! I love the delicious strawberry ice-cream scent on my lips, and consistency helps greatly improving the conditions of my lips this winter.

Verdict

Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask is definitely something that encourages me to take care of my lips each night. If you are like me who cannot live without lip balms, you will like this Lip Sleeping Mask.
