Never Feel Dry Again – 23 Years Old Aqua Bab Modeling Mask Review

What do you think is the limitation of sheet masks? I’d say it’s the time of treatment. If you have a sheet mask that never dries up, and you could leave it on for 1 hour or even 2 hours, the effect of the mask would double or triple.

That’s exactly what the 23 Years Old Aqua Bab Modeling Mask is!! It forms a moist gel that completely conforms to the skin, and stays moist for ever as long as you could bear.

Packaging

23 Years Old Aqua Bab Modeling Mask comes in a bulky plastic capsule-like container. The bottom of the container is designed to be used as the mixing bowl for the mask. Eash set contains 4 use and each use includes a gel pouch, a powder sachet, and a flat wooden stick.

I love how everything you’ll need is included in the packaging and the steps are easy to identify and understood even without any instructions.

It is bulky but practical, definitely something that stays at home instead of bringing to travels.

Colour

The gel is a semi-transparent cloudy colour.

The powder is white, with dark purple speckles. From reading the ingredients list, I believe these purple speckles are dried Hibiscus Flowers.

The mixture is a greyish colour with purple speckles.

Scent

The mixture has a slight “aqua” smell. It’s quite pleasant and not overly fragranced.

Texture

After mixing the gel and the powder, it turns into a porridge-like mixture. It’s not sticky. If you ever had mango sago, it feels much like the sago. The texture is not completely smooth, but a bit lumpy, and has a bit of thickness, which makes it cling onto the face instead of sliding away.

Once dried, it feels much like jelly. Extremely moist on the surface. Still lumpy.

Application

I always thought it would be a hassle for something that needs mixing. But it was surprisingly easy and made the product felt fresh. The time-consuming part is squeezing the gel out of its pouch – maybe I was being savvy and wanted to get as much out as possible. The actual mixing only took 10 seconds or so. The powder melts easily into the gel with only a few stirs.

Applying the mixture to the face with the wooden stick is not the easiest but manageable. I used my hand in the end to even out the surface especially around the nose area. It takes about two layers to fully use up the products. But you don’t have to worry about speed. The gel hardens after a moment of application, but you could pile on more as you go.

After using up all the mixture, I ended up with a medium thickness layer on my face. The mixture is half hardened after the application. The overall application was quite easy and not messy at all. There was no dripping.

Because the modeling mask is a gel that hardens on the face, it fits 100% to the face shape, with no air bubbles or creases at all. It creates an airtight contact with the skin, which amplifies the hydrating effects.

Another great thing about this mask is that it is quite flexible. I could talk, move my face and probably even eat, and it would move with my face and does not lift up. This is so much more convenient than a sheet mask where you’re so much more constrained.

The mask feels cool and moist on the face. It’s quite a soothing experience. I’ve left it on for 1.5 hours and it still felt exactly the same as when I first put it on, there were no signs of drying at all!

When it’s time to remove, I loosened the mask from its edges and lifted the whole thing from chin upwards. It came off easily in a whole piece. The mask itself felt soft and slippery.

Despite the claim earlier that it’ll never dry up, there was actually a patch on the corner of my forehead that completely dried up. Mainly because I only applied a thin layer, so don’t skimp on it and make sure you apply a layer with a reasonable thickness to get the most benefit out of it. When it is completely dried, it becomes a thin film that sticks to the skin.

After removing the mask, there were a few dried strings of film left over along the edge of my face. These leftover pieces are quite sticky, so I had to wash them off with water.

Overall, I enjoyed using the 23 Years Old Aqua Bab Modeling Mask. I’d say it is something that is more suited when you’ve got some time to spare with.

Results

After using the 23 Years Old Aqua Bab Modeling Mask, my skin felt cool and soothed. It was moist, elastic and brightened. My face also felt more lifted and shaped. I felt the cells are more packed together and pores are smaller. The next morning, my face would feel full, plump and bouncy.

So does it deliver more than what a normal sheet mask does? Maybe ever so slightly, but nothing dramatic. I feel the main advantage of using the 23 Years Old Aqua Bab Modeling Mask is the application experience. If you always hated sheet masks, the Aqua Bab Modeling Mask is so much easier to wear.

Price

The 23 Years Old Aqua Bab Modeling Mask retails for 29,500 Won, which equates to about $35 AUD for 4 applications. It is quite pricey in my opinion, but modeling masks tend to be around this price or more expensive.

Bottom Line

23 Years Old Aqua Bab Modeling Mask is a fun and easy to use mask. The mixing procedure gives an impression of “freshly handmade”. I loved the flexibility of this mask where you could talk and laugh as normal. I would recommend it to people who love trying new stuff, or those who cannot bear cotton sheet masks. It is definitely an experience.
