Klavuu has created this word “Pearlsation” to express its use of Pearl Extracts in transforming the skin. I really like this word. It summarised whitening, brightening, radiance, transparency, smooth, subtle glow. I wish my skin becomes pearl like after using their products.
It might take a while.
In this post, I’ll show you Klavuu’s clay mask, which is a little different to your normal clay masks. I think it’s a nice alternative and fun to use.
Packaging
Klavuu Special Care Pearl Glow Mask‘s packaging is quite low-key. An ordinary plastic jar with very subtle shimmer and a clay coloured matt lid. The overall colour scheme is quite muted. I was hoping for a more bright, pika-pika, maybe holographic themed packaging. I guess I’m more childish than Klavuu’s target customer.
Twist open the lid, there’s an inner lid that sits on the jar. I like how this lid is hard plastic and just sits there rather than stuck into the jar.
It doesn’t come with a spatula, but that’s ok, I have plenty sitting around.
Ingredients
Water, Glycerin, Bentonite, Dipropylene Glycol, Kaolin, Betaine, 1,2-Hexanediol, Panthenol, Mica, Piper Methysticum Leaf/Root/Stem Extract, Centella Asiatica Extract, Ficus Carica (Fig) Fruit Extract, Pearl Extract, Algae Extract, Eclipta Prostrata Leaf Extract, Monascus Extract, Ulmus Davidiana Root Extract, Amaranthus Caudatus Seed Extract, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Camellia Sinensis Seed Oil, Camellia Japonica Seed Oil, Macadamia Integrifolia Seed Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Sodium Hyaluronate, Titanium Dioxide, Xanthan Gum, Magnesium Aluminum Silicate, Butylene Glycol, Disodium Edta, Allantoin, Tin Oxide, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Dimethicone, Squalane, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Fructooligosaccharides, Alcohol, Isononyl Isononanoate, Polyglyceryl-10 Stearate, Lecithin, Beta-Glucan, Cetearyl Alcohol, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Stearic Acid, Polyglyceryl-2 Dipolyhydroxystearate, Ceramide Np, Inulin Lauryl Carbamate, Disodium Stearoyl Glutamate, Fragrance, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin
This mask consists of two types of clays: Bentonite and Kaolin. Bentonite has a stronger absorbing power while Kaolin is finer and smoother. Glycerin and Panthenol are hydrating ingredients. The rest are plant extracts and oils. Down the list, it also contains Ceramide Np for anti-aging, fragrance and preservatives.
Colour
Klavuu Special Care Pearl Glow Mask has a very special iridescent colour that resembles pearl. I feel like I’m a bronze statue when I use this mask.
Scent
It has a strong fragrance of “nice smelling cosmetic”. If you hate scented skincare, you won’t like this.
Texture
The texture is very smooth. Different to normal clay masks, it doesn’t have a muddy texture, but rather creamy and slippery. It feels tacky like mud.
Application
Due to the malleable texture of this mask, I can apply a thin layer and it dries quickly. It easily rinses off without leaving any residue.
Results
I have good habits of cleansing and exfoliating, so my skin is generally pretty clean, but this mask removes the build-up of gunk inside my pores. I really like how it doesn’t dry out my skin. I find my skin feels clarified and breathable after using it. I haven’t seen dramatic brightening or anti-aging results and don’t expect a wash off mask would do that. I think it does what a clay mask supposed to do.
Price
Klavuu Special Care Pearl Glow Mask retails for 26,000 Won or $32 AUD for 100ml of product. The price is mid-range, slightly more expensive than Innisfree’s clay mousse, but I feel it is better quality.
Verdict
Klavuu Special Care Pearl Glow Mask is a decent clay mask. It is a good change from a traditional mud clay mask and adds a little pearlescence (and hopefully anti-aging benefits).
