Vitamin C serums, at decent concentrations, are probably one of the most effective skincare products for brightening and evening out skin tones. However, not everyone’s skin could tolerate the abrasiveness of highly concentrated acids. It’s likely to burn and cause redness or sensitivity to skins that are less resilient. And I’m one of them. So if you have sensitive skin and would like to see decent results with skin brightening, there are alternatives. In this post, I’ll review the Hello Skin Jumiso All Day Vitamin Brightening and Balancing Facial Serum, which uses Vitamin Tree Extract instead of Vitamin C.
It’s a serum that contains 86% Vitamin Tree Extract. Vitamin Tree, also known as Sea Buckthorn or Hippophae Rhamnoides Fruit, is a powerful antioxidant that grows in the cold climate of high mountains. It’s abundant of Vitamin E, Vitamin C, minerals, amino acids, polyphenol, organic acids, etc. I’ve had impressive results with Vitamin Tree products before, but not at this concentration and not in the form of a serum. So I’m pretty intrigued by this product.
Hello Skin Jumiso All Day Vitamin Brightening and Balancing Facial Serum comes in an orange transparent glass dropper. I think the packaging is solid and well designed. I love how the bottle is made of glass and the size of it is great for travel. The dropper works very well at dispensing the product.
Hippophae Rhamnoides Fruit Extract (86.14%), Methylpropanediol, Glycerin, Niacinamide, Dipropylene Glycol, Sodium Hyaluronate, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Centella Asiatica Extract, Polygonum Cuspidatum Root Extract, Scutellaria Baicalesis Root Extract, Camellia Sinesis Leaf Extract, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Panthenol, Betaine, Ascorbic Acid, Hydroxyacetophenone, Pentylene Glycol, Caprylyl Glycol, Butylene Glycol, Chlorphenesin, Carbomer, Arginine, Disodium EDTA, Pelargonium Graveolens Flower Oil, Cymbopogon Martini Oil, Cananga Odorata Flower Oil, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Peel Oil, Rosa Damascena Flower Oil
As mentioned above, this serum is mainly Vitamin Tree Extract. It also contains Niacinamide (2%), Hyaluronic Acid, Centella Asiatica which ticks the box of current K-beauty hot ingredients. Noting it contains Ascorbic Acid, but the ranking of this ingredient is very low. At this low concentration, it wouldn’t have much effects on the skin.
I love the scent of this product. It’s a very light rose scent with a hint of citrus – from the essential oil blend that it uses. The scent is not overpowering, but very calming.
Another hit point for me. The texture of this serum is so easy to use and incorporate into any skincare routine. The serum has a light gel consistency, slightly thicker than water. It spreads thinly over the skin, then absorbs fully into the skin without any residue, leaving the skin dry to touch. The texture makes this serum perfect for layering in your winter skincare routine or use under makeup.
I use this serum day and night, right after toning. Since it’s not an acid, you don’t have to worry about being sensitised to sun exposures. I apply about a full dropper each time, massage it all over my face and neck. Then follow with another serum or a moisturiser.
The 30ml bottle lasts about 1.5~2 months.
Comparing to a Vitamin C serum, this Hello Skin Jumiso All Day Vitamin Brightening and Balancing Facial Serum is super easy to use and extremely gentle on the skin. It adds hydration and anti-oxidants into the skin. After 1 month of consistent use, I could see improvements in my skin tone and the size of my pores. I do feel my skin is brightened and more balanced.
It’s not a miracle serum, but one that applies pleasantly and improves the skin over time.
Hello Skin Jumiso All Day Vitamin Brightening and Balancing Facial Serum retails for 24,000 Won (~AUD$30) for 30ml of product. I feel it’s a very reasonable price for the concentration of the formula.
Hello Skin Jumiso All Day Vitamin Brightening and Balancing Facial Serum is a solid, easy to use serum that suits all skin types. The brightening, hydrating and antioxidant effects would benefit anyone looking for improvements in the skin. I would personally recommend it to my family and friends.
