Effective Anti-aging Cream – Blithe Pressed Serum Tundra Chaga Review

What do you expect from an anti-aging cream? I actually didn’t have an expectation until I met the Blithe Pressed Serum Tundra Chaga. It’s a unique experience. My skin felt lifted, smooth and plump. Not the type of plump when you’ve injected a lot of hydration, but softer and more elastic. I’ve only used it for a couple of weeks and I couldn’t wait to share it with you all.

The concept of this cream is quite unique too. Blithe calls it a “Pressed Serum”, which is how this product is made. The ingredients are cold pressed together which preserves the nutrients in the ingredients and more importantly, the formula is packed with high concentrations of plant extracts without water or an emollient carrier. This makes the product highly nutrient and penetrates deep into the skin. It’s unlike anything else in the market.

Packaging

Blithe Pressed Serum Tundra Chaga comes in a frosted plastic jar with a brown twist top lid. The inner lid has a place for the storage of the spatula, which is thoughtful. Overall, it’s an ordinary cream packaging, bulkier than necessary.

Ingredients

Inonotus Obliquus (Mushroom) Extract (57.34%), Water, Glycerin, Diglycerin, Butylene Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Triethylhexanoin, Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil, Cetearyl Alcohol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, C12-16 Alcohols, Caramel, Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Pentylene Glycol, Polyacrylate-13, Palmitic Acid, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Caprylyl Glycol, Polyisobutene, Glyceryl Acrylate/Acrylic Acid Copolymer, Potassium Hydroxide, Dipropylene Glycol, Adenosine, Polysorbate 20, Sorbitan Isostearate, Disodium EDTA, Methyldihydrojasmonate, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil, Juniperus Mexicana Oil, Pelargonium Graveolens Flower Oil, Sparassis Crispa Extract, Candida Bombicola/Glucose/Methyl Rapeseedate Ferment, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Alteromonas Ferment Extract.

The ingredient top on the list is Inonotus Obliquus, which is the scientific name for Chaga Mushroom. Mushrooms have been used for centuries in oriental medicines. Reshi or Ling Zhi was the prestigious mushroom that could save lives. So I’m not surprised to see great results from a mushroom-based product. Chaga is a mushroom that grows on the bark of birch trees (we’re seeing a lot of great things from the good old birch), which is rich in antioxidants and fights against inflammations.

Followed by commonly used moisturisers and emollients such as Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, etc.

The brownish colour is from Caramel.

Then there is Meadowfoam Seed Oil, which is a great oil for barrier formation and penetrates well into the skin without feeling greasy.

More emollients and the formula ended with a few fermented extracts.

Colour

Blithe Pressed Serum Tundra Chaga has a brown colour in the jar. Once spread out, it is clear.

Scent

It has a fragrance from the essential oils. It’s a mixture of floral, citrus and woody scent.

Texture

Blithe Pressed Serum Tundra Chaga has a very soft and moist, almost wobbly texture. It’s in between a jelly and a pudding.

Upon spreading out, the cream melts into a watery, slightly emollient texture.

You can feel the “cold pressed serum” concept in its texture.

Application

I use the cream at the last step of my skincare routine at night. I use about a pea size and spread it thinly all over the face and the neck.

It’s very soothing to apply. The cream melts on the skin, spreads out to a thin layer and absorbs within a few swipes. The skin feels moist, cooled, soft and protected afterwards.

For oily skins, this cream would be sufficient for your winter. For dry skins, you may need to follow with another moisturiser when the weather gets really cold and dry.

Results

Moisturised, lifted, soft, smooth, elastic and brightened skin.

I’m actually amazed with how much my skin has improved with this cream, given that my skin is already in a pretty good condition. On days when I didn’t use this cream, I could feel the difference.

The lifting effect is very subtle but noticeable. The skin doesn’t feel tight or dry, but slightly more elastic and energetic.

My skin is a lot smoother, softer and hydrated from within. It’s brighter and clearer (though I’ve been using other brightening products as well).

Price

Blithe Pressed Serum Tundra Chaga retails for 49,450 Won (~AUD$62) for 50ml of product. I think this price is more than reasonable for what it is.

Verdict

Best anti-aging cream I’ve ever used. Highly recommend to all skin types and those who are approaching or over 30.
