Winter Skincare Routine for Balancing, Brightening and Elasticity

How is your skin doing? Winter is halfway through, is your skin feeling sufficiently hydrated or is it feeling tight and dull? No matter what your skin type is, this winter skincare routine will help to hydrate your skin from deep within, keep it plump and moist. This routine is not particularly long and only involve a few essential steps that will truly transform your skin.

Step 1: Cleanser

It’s important to start the routine with a non-drying cleanser, preferably low pH, to avoid stripping the skin and disturb the skin balance.

I’ve been enjoying this cleansing foam from Hyggee. It pumps out as a rich bouncy foam, extremely convenient and quick to use. It’s surprisingly hydrating for a foam cleanser thanks to the use of birch sap juice. With a pH of 5.5, it maintains the skin’s health and balance.

The cleanser rinses off easily without any residue, leaving the skin soft, hydrated and refreshed.

Step 2: Toner

After cleansing, I like to use a light weight toner that penetrates deep and hdyrates from within. This would also prepare for my serum to penetrate and absorb.

My favourite toner at the moment is the Abib’s Rebalancing Toner Skin Booster. This toner is light weight yet hydrating, penetrating deep into the skin layer and delivering all the goodness. This toner is sea water based, with added antioxidants, hydrating, brightening and soothing ingredients.

Step 3: Serum

For a serum, I like to use one that’s antioxidant rich, to offset the environmental damages and time of age.

This Hello Skin Jumiso All Day Vitamin Brightening & Balancing Facial Serum contains 86% Vitamin Tree Extract, that’s full of antioxidants, amino acids, vitamins and minerals. Vitamin Tree Extract is also great for detoxifying the skin, making it clearer and brighter.

This serum absorbs very well into the skin, leaving no residue on the surface. My skin feels plumped and brightened after using it.

Step 4: Oil Serum

I then use an oil serum to further hydrate and nourish the skin, because a single moisturiser is never enough for my hydration needs.

Nacific Fresh Herb Origin Serum is actually my favourite skincare product for the winter time. I’ve finished a bottle last winter and onto my second bottle now. It has completely changed my skin’s condition. This serum is a duo layer product combining an oil and an essence. It hydrates, nourishes and protects the skin. It allows me to use a lighter weight moisturiser, and still feel sufficiently moisturised.

The serum is also full of antioxidants and brighteners. My skin is radiant, plump and moisturised after using it.

Step 5: Moisturiser

I then finish it off with a light weight but hydration-locking moisturiser.

My new favourite this winter is the Blithe Pressed Serum Tundra Chaga. Its hydrating effect is surprisingly long lasting given its light weight texture. My skin is moisturised for the entire night.

This cream contains 57% Chaga Mushroom Extract, full of antioxidants and nutrients. I could literally feel the difference in the elasticity and brightenss of my skin when I use this product.

Step 6: Eye Cream

Your eye area deserve its own product. The Secret Key Starting Treatment Eye Cream is another great find for me this year. It’s affordable, effective and has a great texture.

It’s not too oily or too watery, sits well under makeup and does a great job at hydrating and brightening the under eye area.

A little goes a long way.
