My Favourite Skincare Routine for Anti-Acne, Anti-aging and Brightening

Today I’ll share my current skincare routine with you. I’ve been on this routine for some time now and am quite happy with the results. My skin is feeling fabulous! It is in a stable state where I only get a small pimple once in a while. It feels hydrated, plumped and lifted. The tone is even and radiant. My pores are appearing smaller as the skin produces lesser oil and being more balanced as well as tightened and plumped. So keep reading if you’re interested to know what products I used.

Of course, on this website, we focus a lot on skincare products, but don’t forget lifestyle is a main contributor too. In the past year, I’ve started running regularly and have been feeding myself a lot of plant-based whole foods. I’ve cut down on sugar and snacks and limiting myself to two meals a day. I’ve started reading and meditating, which helped greatly on my emotional health. And better skin is the side effect of a better lifestyle.

Makeup Remover

This is my daily makeup remover. I’ve just written a review of this milk cleanser last week. It’s quick and gentle, cleanses well and leaving the skin soft and hydrated. Cleansing Milk is a great alternative to cleansing oils if you don’t like the greasy feeling of oils.

Cleanser

$24.00 AUD

I’ve included two cleansers here, could have added the Real Barrier Cream Cleansing Foam as well. All these are non-stripping, pH balancing cleansers that hydrates the skin. I’ve been using the Etude House Soon Jung 5.5 Foam Cleanser for the past year and have recently started using the Torriden Dive-In Foam Cleanser. Etude House is my all time favourite. It’s super gentle, has a minimalist formula and an unbeatable price. Torriden has slightly more cleansing power, so if you have oily skin or doesn’t do double cleanse or wears heavy makeup, Torriden probably suits better than Etude House.

Toner/Essence

This product is amazing for keeping acne away. I’ve stopped using it for a couple of weeks after I finished my first bottle and had to go back to it with a second bottle because no other product is able to give me the same result when it comes to anti-acne. It’s a water-like toner that absorbs in no time and keeps the skin soft and hydrated. Check out my recent post for more details on this essence.

This essence is not a must-have, but it does help to boost the skin’s hydration, brightness and elasticity. The essence is lightweight and easily absorbed into the skin, without making it greasy. The highly nutritious antioxidant content helps to fight free radicals and signs of aging. Plus, the packaging is gorgous and perfect as a gift.

Serum

This product is a recent dicovery, but I’ve been loving it a lot! It’s a great skin brightener made with solid effective ingredients such as Niacinamide and Arbutin. The Yuja extract is fragrant and refreshing with natural Vitamin C content to brighten and lift. The serum itself is extremely easy to use. It’s lightweight, absorbs quickly and without any sticky feeling. I’ve been happily using it even in the hot summer months. A must-have if you’re into skin brightening. This serum is not overly hydrating, therefore oily skins could use it too.

Some By Mi Yuja Niacin Blemish Care Serum alone doesn’t give me the hydration and plumpness that I’m after, therefore I like to include a Propolis Serum as my second serum. I’ve recently reviewed three propolis serums. All of which are great for adding the extra hydration and elasticity and fight against aging. I like to use the Cosrx Full Fit Propolis Ultra Light Ampoule in the morning and Cosrx Full Fit Propolis Light Ampoule at night. When the weather gets a bit colder, I would prefer the CNP Laboratory Propolis Energy Ampule.

Moisturiser

I have replaced my moisturiser with this antioxidant oil from Urang. As mentioned in my “How to use facial oils for oily skins” post, I only use one drop at a time and it’s sufficient to keep my skin moisturised for the entire night. I’ve noticed a strong improvement in my skin’s elsticity when using this oil. Because I’m not using a traditional moisturiser, by using two serums and an oil, I’m able to keep my skin hydrated and moisturised, but without overloading the skin.

Eye Cream

Last but not least, an eye cream to keep the fine lines away. Swanicoco eye cream is lightweight and quick absorbing, but provides long-lasting hydration to the eye area. It’s formulated with peptines to assist with skin regeneration and improve signs of aging. Learn more about this eye cream in my recent review post.

Weekly Treatment

A weekly exfoliation to remove the dead skin cells is always helpful to keep the skin in a healthy state. The Ample:N Purifying Shot Pumpkin Enzyme Peeling Gel is gentle and effective.

Some By Mi Yuja Niacin Blemish Care Serum Mask has been my favourite sheet mask for an intensive treatment on the weekend. This mask is lightweight and gives great hydration and brightening results.

This is the entire list of my current skincare routine. It deals with acne, skin brightening and anti-aging. This routine can be used all year round. In the summer time, I may skip the Urang Oil at times depending on how thirsty my skin is. In the winter time, I’ll add a moisturiser to help prevent water-loss over time.
