Cosrx Clear Fit Master Patch vs Acne Pimple Master Patch – Review & Comparison

Cosrx has came out with a new pimple patch! How exciting is that!

The selling point of the new Clear Fit patch is that it’ll be clear on the face, so you could wear it during the day and under makeup. The size and texture have changed a bit from the original one. So what are the differences and which is better?

Well, in this post I’ll compare the new Clear Fit Master Patch with the original Acne Pimple Master Patch in detail.

Packaging

Both the Clear Fit Master Patch and the Acne Pimple Master Patch have very similar resealable packaging. However, the Clear Fit Master Patch has a black, more sleek design compared with the red Acne Pimple Master Patch. I wouldn’t say one is better than another because they function the same, but if I have to choose one purely based on the packaging, I would choose Clear Fit.

The packaging inside the pouch are again very similar. Both have the patches on a plastic sheet sealed in a paper/plastic pouch. The Acne Pimple Master Patch comes with a sheet of instruction where the Clear Fit does not. But I don’t think the instruction sheet is necessary.

Texture

This is probbly the most differentiating part of the two patches. The Acne Pimple Master Patch has a relatively thick, silicone texture, whereas the Clear Fit Master Patch has a more plastic, thin texture. Because of its thinner texture, the Clear Fit Master Patch appears clear on the skin. The results is like sticking a plastic tape on the skin.

Cosrx claims that the Clear Fit Master Patch is to be worn during the day under makeup. This is not completely true. Because of the plastic surface, foundation wouldn’t be sticking to it, so the Clear Fit patch would still be visible, if not more visible if you wear makeup over it. However, for areas that are not too obvious, you can use the Clear Fit Master Patch without much notice. I had a pimple under my jawline, using the Clear Fit patch covered the acne very well and it was not noticeable at all.

Colour

The Clear Fit Master Patch is not completely clear. The centre part of the patch is an offwhite, yellowish colour similar to the Acne Pimple Master Patch. But on the face, the Clear Fit Master Patch appears clear.

Shape & Size

This is another differentiating factor of the two patches (for some). The Clear Fit Master Patch comes in one size of 10mm rounds, while the Acne Pimple Master Patch comes in 3 different sized rounds. In my previous review the of the Acne Pimple Master Patch, I mentioned that 10mm is the size that I felt most useful but it was the least quantity in the Acne Pimple Master Patch. But over time, I have really grown to love the differing sizes of the Acne Pimple Master Patch. Some of my pimples can get quite large and the 10mm size was not enough.

The Clear Fit Master Patch comes with 18 patches of 10mm, while the Acne Pimple Master Patch comes with 24 patches of differing sizes. Although you’re probably getting the same area of products overall, there’s probably less use per pack for the Clear Fit Master Patch.

Application

With the application, I much prefer the thinner Clear Fit Master Patch. The Acne Pimple Master Patch tends to not stick very well for me, when I first apply it. But it was not an issue with Clear Fit. In fact, Clear Fit has a raised centre which makes it wraps around the pimple very well.

One thing that I discovered is that Clear Fit has the backing sheet pre-cut so that you could grab the patches without crimp the edges.

Effectiveness

Cosrx recommends the Acne Pimple Master Patch for serious extraction. However, I found both patches had similar performance at extracting the secretion. Both patches would only work on pimples that are not too deep. Difference is that the Clear Fit extracts the secretion and makes the pimple flat, whereas the Acne Pimple not only extracts the secretion, but also develops the pimple so that it could be squeezed out from its roots with ease (not all the time, but sometimes).

Price

Both patches retail for 3,500 Won, which is about $4.5 AUD. I used to find them quite cheap, but they can get used up pretty quickly. If you’re looking a cheaper alternative, check out the A’pieu Nonco range.

Verdict

It’s very hard to say which is better. Neither of them are perfect and functionwise, they are very similar. The advantage of the Clear Fit is its ease of application and being able to wear it outside without being noticeable. But I like how the Acne Pimple Master Patch could extract the pimple from its roots and not just flatens it. I would probably always have both on hand. I mean, pimple patches are a consumerable, you’ll always need it.
