Empties Review #1

In this post, I’ll share with you a few thoughts on the products that I’ve finished up using. I go through a lot of products each year and these just happen to be the empty bottles that I saved.

Banila Co Clean It Zero Purity

I really enjoyed using this cleansing balm. It’s not the softest or the smoothest texture, but it cleanses well without leaving my skin feeling greasy. It’s also fragrance-free for those who are sensitive to fragrances. The updated version also removed polyethylene from the ingredients list which is a huge plus. Highly recommend.

Belif Moisturizing Bomb

This is one cream that I would recommend to anyone who’s looking for a good hydrating moisturiser. It’s suitable for most skin types except the very dry where it may not be sufficient by itself. It’s an all-rounder that applies and absorbs well. It also keeps the moisture for all night. It’s slightly pricier than a drug store cream, but you get what you pay for.

Cosrx PHA Moisture Renewal Power Cream

I loved using this cream during winter. It’s highly emollient and moisturising. The PHA content delivers micro-exfoliation effects that has made my skin smooth and glowy. I wouldn’t use this in summer due to its high oil content which is too occlusive for summer use.

Etude House Drawing Eye Brow Pencil

I’ve gone through dozens of this eye brow pencil. It’s difficult to get any better and cheaper than this. It’s easy to use, doesn’t need sharpening, offers the right intensity and colour and lasts all day. Apart from the plastic cap that always breaks before I finish the whole pencil, it’s almost perfect.

Huxley Grab Water Essence

It’s a good hydrator though not for everyone. I wish it’s less fragranced and has less alcohol in it. Both of these means that it’s not a sensitive skin friendly product. My sensitive skin has tolerated it ok, though I could feel the alcohol acting on the skin. However, the hydrating effects of Cactus are simply incomparable. If you have dehydrated but resilient skin, you’ll like this.

I’m From Volcanic Mask

This is probably my favourite clay mask. It’s super gentle, doesn’t sting at all. It’s non-drying, yet sucks so much out of my pores. It’s more expensive than Innisfree, but I feel it’s completely worth it, especially if you like good quality skincare. A must-have for all skin types.

Innisfree The Green Tea Seed Eye Cream

This eye cream is ok for its price. But for me into my 30’s, it doesn’t give me sufficient protection for the duration that I’m after. Better eye creams do cost a lot more, so if you’re on a budget, it’s better than nothing.

Klairs Midnight Blue Youth Activating Drop

This is a product that I don’t have much impression about. I feel one bottle wasn’t enough to get a feeling of what it actually does. It’s a blue coloured water, that absorbs instantly upon application. You have to use it quickly otherwise it does oxidise after some time. I was looking for some lifting or anti-aging benefits due to its EGF content, but didn’t see any. One month was probably not enough to tell.

Manyo Factory 4GF Eye Cream

This is one of the products that I feel it’s “bang for your buck”. It’s better than a lot of others in the budget eye cream category. If you were thinking of getting Innisfree, I would get this instead. It has very high content of anti-aging ingredients and it applies very well. The texture is not as luxury as those more expensive ones, but it works well at keeping fine lines away.

Manyo Factory Bifidalacto Complex

This is my favourite product from Manyo Factory. I like this a lot better their best selling Galactomyces Niacin Essence. Again, it’s one of those “bang for your buck” products. It contains high content of Bifidalacto Complex, more concentrated than those used in Estee Lauder Night Repair. I did see results with this product in terms of repairing and just better skin. – smoother, tighter and more radiant.

Nacific Phyto Niacin Whitening Essence

I had really high hopes for this product. I started using it when I got back from my Pacific holiday this year when I got quite tanned and want to bring my skin back to its previous tone. But after finishing an entire bottle, I wasn’t seeing the results that I’m after. It has 5% Niacinamide, but I feel it didn’t perform as well to other products that only contained 2% Niacinamide. I’m not sure whether it’s the formulation or because I was asking for too much of a result. My skin eventually did get brighter after a few products, but I feel it wasn’t this one that has made the difference. It’s a good essence, but not delivering to its promise.

Pyunkang Yul A Therapy Butter Balm

Pyunkang Yul, please please please bring this back. If you haven’t tried this body butter, you’ve missed it, but you wouldn’t have a hole in your heart that’s difficult to fill. Yes, it’s that bad. This body butter is amazing. It moisturises, hydrates, brightens, soothes in one application. The moisture lasts until the next time you wash it off. My scaly legs have become so smooth and soft. It’s not heavily fragranced and absorbs quickly, doesn’t leave the skin greasy. It’s the best, but it’s discontinued.

Too Cool For School Perfect Day Makeup Fixer

I’ve never talked about this, but I’ve finished over a dozen of it. It’s my go-to makeup fixer. Unlike western sprays, this is a mist, one that you pump down and the mist would come out non-stop, so you always get an even finish. It’s great for taking off any powdery look from your foundation/powder and makes the makeup lasting all day. It doesn’t feel tightening on the skin and act without you noticing it.
