MAKEUP REMOVER
Klavuu Pure Pearlsation pH Balancing Quick Cleansing Pad
I haven’t been wearing much makeup in 2021 but whenever I do and when I want a quick cleanse off of sunscreen, I tend to reach for this cleansing pad. The cotton is cushiony, soft, juicy and doesn’t come apart when wipe on the skin. It’s soaked with a solution that’s mild and doesn’t irritate the skin. It removes my makeup easily without much pressure needed. For removing sunscreen, half a pad is sufficient. The best part is, it doesn’t leave any uncomfortable residue or cause pimples if I don’t follow with another wash.
WATER BASED CLEANSER
Real Barrier Cicarelief Mild Cleansing Foam
This is a no-brainer for me. I’ve been loving this cleanser for every moment that I used it. There are many good cleansers in the low-end K-beauty market right now. By good, I mean, gentle, low pH, cleanses without stripping and pleasant to use. Real Barrier Cicarelief Mild Cleansing Foam does everything a good cleanser does and on top it, it contains calamine, which helps to keep my acne at bay. The formula is both gentle and soothing on the skin. The consistency is soft but not fluid, doesn’t require too much effort to lather up. After cleansing, the skin feels clean, soft and hydrated. Highly recommend for those with acne-prone skin.
EXFOLIATOR
Real Barrier Aqua Soothing Peeling Gel
Gentle, cleanses well and non-abrasive. I like its lighter texture, not as gloppy as some others. I also really enjoy the natural herbal scent. I think nothing beats K-beauty when it comes to peeling gels.
TONER
Missha Vita C Plus Ascorbic Acid Brightening Toner
This toner is full of my favourite ingredients for skin brightening and anti-aging such as Licorice Root Extract, Niacinamide, Vitamin C, Bifida Ferment Lysate and Peptides. The consistency is water-like, lightweight and can be easily layered with another essence.
SERUM
Medi-Peel Bor-Tox Peptide Ampoule
This serum has to be my top favourite of the year amongst all skincare products mentioned here. It is formulated with Volufiline, which claims to have the same effect as botox. I can’t compare the two from my own experience, but this serum did provide visible lifting effects to my skin. My skin felt plump and tight (the good tightness that’s full of hydration) after using it. The consistency is lightweight but not watery. It easily layers with other serums. Highly recommend for people who are looking to improve the elasticity and fullness of the skin.
MOISTURISER
Real Barrier Extreme Cream
After a year of trying loads of moisturisers, I came back to this cream at the end. I learned that the only function you would want from a moisturiser is to moisturise and to keep the skin moisturised for a long period of time. This is exactly what the Extreme Cream does. In fact, all of the moisturisers from Real Barrier are really good for this. You can choose base on your skin type. A good moisturised skin barrier plus good retention of moisture is the key for resisting aging and other environmental effects. Any other skincare functions such as brightening or anti-aging can be better achieved with a serum.
