Best hydrating body butter – Pyunkang Yul A Therapy Butter Balm Review

The first time I tried the Pyunkang Yul A Therapy Butter Balm, I decided to bring it home. It’s a luxurious balm that’s not greasy, nor watery. It absorbs very well into the skin rather than just sitting on the top, and the skin feels hydrated, moisturised and soft. After using it for some time, I grew to love it even more. Its soft, whipped cream like texture and the slight lavender aroma that’s soothing but not overwhelming. It softens the rough patches on my body and changed the skin’s hydration level from within, that even if I’m too lazy to apply it for a day or two, my skin still feels soft and hydrated.

Packaging

The Pyunkang Yul A Therapy Butter Balm comes in a brown plastic tub. It doesn’t feel as sophisticated or elegant as the inner content. When you twist open the top cap, there is a clear inner cap. I love how this clear cap looks and sits on top of the rim. It makes the balm looks pure, clean and elegant. The tub requires you to dip your finger into it or use a spatula of your own. I’m not too fussed when it comes to body products. I usually just go in straight with my finger.

Ingredients

I haven’t seen a complete ingredients list for this product. Some of its key ingredients include Shea Butter, Centella Asiatica Extract, Lavender, Rosemary and Lily.

Colour

It’s white.

Scent

It has a slight lavender aroma that’s noticeable but not overwhelming. The scent feels clean and organic. I really enjoy this type of scent rather than the fragranced scents that body balms normally come in.

Texture

It has a soft, whipped cream like texture. I would say it’s more “lotion” than “butter”. It doesn’t flow but is not solid. However, it’s also not as wet like a lotion that takes forever to rub in.

The Pyunkang Yul A Therapy Butter Balm spreads effortlessly and absorbs into the skin rather quickly. The finish is moist but not greasy or sticky. The skin feels moisturised, protected, soft and smooth.

Results

The butter balm effectively hydrates and moisturises the skin. It softens the dry patches on my body, making them smooth and moisturised. I really like how my skin stays soft and moisturised even after a few showers without using the balm. The balm truly penetrates into the skin and improves the skin’s condition rather than a temporary relief.

On top of softer and smoother skin, the balm also has the effect of lightening scars and discolourations. Over time, this balm would regulate the skin tone, making it brightened.

Price

The Pyunkang Yul A Therapy Butter Balm retails for 21,000 Won, which is about $26 AUD for 200ml of product. It’s about the same price as The Body Shop’s body butter, but feels much like L’occitane, which is over 2 times the price.

Verdict

I’m settled. The Pyunkang Yul A Therapy Butter Balm is the best body balm I’ve used and the price is at a sweet spot. My skin feels so soft and smooth that I look forward to applying this product.
